A Life of Worship
Jul 01, 2026A Life of Worship: Fix Your Eyes, Lift Your Perspective
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been on a journey exploring what it truly means to worship. And at the heart of it all is this simple but powerful truth:
Worship is not something we use—it’s a life we live.
In Exodus, God establishes the foundation:
“You shall have no other gods before Me.”
Worship has always been about devotion to Him alone.
Yet, like the Israelites in the wilderness, it’s easy to become distracted. When waiting feels long or life feels uncertain, we are tempted to turn to substitutes—control, success, comfort, or even our own effort. But these things were never meant to hold our worship.
From Distraction to Devotion
In Luke, we see Martha busy with many things, while Mary chooses one thing—to sit at Jesus’ feet. This is the invitation for all of us.
Worship is not performance.
It is not about doing more.
It is about being with Him.
When Peter stepped out of the boat in Matthew, he walked on water as long as his eyes were fixed on Jesus. The moment he focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink.
How often do we do the same?
Distractions will come—circumstances, pressure, even success—but the call remains:
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
A Higher Perspective
In the book of Revelation, John finds himself in a difficult place—isolated, uncertain, and under pressure. Yet in the middle of that reality, he is invited into something greater: the throne room of God.
And everything changes.
From that place of worship, John sees that:
- God is still on the throne
- Jesus, the Lamb, is worthy
- Nothing is out of His control
Worship didn’t remove John from his reality—it transformed how he saw it.
The same is true for us.
When we worship, we don’t escape life—we gain heaven’s perspective on it. Whether we are in a storm or in a season of blessing, worship anchors us in truth:
Jesus is still worthy.
Jesus is still reigning.
Your Life Is a Song
Worship is not confined to a moment on a Sunday—it is expressed through our entire lives.
Scripture reminds us in Psalms that our lives can become a continual song before the Lord. Not a perfect song—but a sincere one.
Every step of obedience, every moment of trust, every act of surrender becomes part of that song.
Like Moses, whose life and worship were woven together, our journey with God tells a story—one that reflects His faithfulness, grace, and goodness.
A Simple Invitation
So as we step into this new month, the invitation is simple:
- Lay down distractions
- Release performance and striving
- Turn your eyes back to Jesus
- Spend time in His presence
- Worship from the reality of your life
Whether in the quiet moments, in the storm, or in celebration—come back to Him.
Even if your prayer is just:
“Lord, I’m here for You.”
Because in the end, worship is not about perfection.
It’s about presence.
It’s about relationship.
It’s about a heart fully devoted to Him.
