Living a Life of True Worship
Jun 02, 2026Worship is often thought of as something we do—a song we sing or a moment in a church service.
But in truth, worship is so much more.
Worship is a life.
Romans 12:1 reminds us:
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
Before worship is ever expressed outwardly, it begins inwardly—with surrender.
A Life Surrendered
True worship starts when we lay down our lives before God. Our plans, our preferences, our need for control—and we choose His will above our own.
Surrender is not always easy, but it is always worth it.
Because surrender is not loss—it is alignment. It positions our hearts to live in step with God, not driven by feelings or circumstances, but grounded in truth.
Worship is not about how we feel.
It is about who God is.
And when our lives are surrendered, our worship becomes real—flowing not just from our lips, but from the way we live.
A People Set Apart
Scripture tells us that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, set apart for God (1 Peter 2:9).
To be set apart doesn’t mean we withdraw from the world—it means we live differently within it. Our lives begin to reflect His heart, His ways, and His presence.
In the Old Testament, access to God was limited. The tabernacle had layers, and only a few could come close.
But even then, God’s desire was always nearness.
When David brought the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem, he placed it in a simple tent—removing barriers and allowing open, ongoing worship before the Lord. It was a glimpse of what was to come.
Through Jesus, that picture became reality.
When He died, the veil was torn. The separation between God and man was removed completely.
We are now invited into direct, personal relationship with Him.
Not at a distance.
Not through someone else.
But close.
An Invitation to the Table
This is the beauty of worship today.
It is like sitting at a table with Jesus.
Personal.
Relational.
Intimate.
And while worship leaders and church leaders play an important role, they are not the focus—they are servants of that space. They help remove distractions and create room for people to encounter God for themselves.
Because in the Kingdom of God, no one stands between you and Jesus.
He is the only mediator.
And you are fully invited.
Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing
It’s easy to become distracted—by preferences, by how things are done, or by what’s happening around us.
But worship was never meant to centre on people or performance.
It is about Jesus.
So when we come into His presence, we come with a simple posture:
“Lord, I’m here for You.”
We lay down expectations.
We release distractions.
And we fix our eyes on Him.
The Invitation
At the heart of it all is this:
A surrendered life.
A set-apart people.
An open invitation.
God is not distant.
He is not hidden behind layers.
He is near.
And He is inviting you—not just into a moment of worship—but into a lifestyle of walking with Him daily.
To sit with Him.
To know Him.
To live for Him.
This is true worship.
A life set apart.
A heart surrendered.
And a relationship that is real.
